On February 16, 2022 seven youth leaders from Franklin High School hosted teams of 10+ from Interlakes and Newfound High Schools as they learned about Suicide Prevention. The training, NAMI NH's CONNECT trains teens and supporting adults to deliver a suicide awareness and prevention message to their communities.
These leaders will decide how to share this message with audiences across the Lakes Region while at the same time training other peers in the model.
Talking about mental illness and suicide is often challenging for many reasons, including those identified by this group. Educating others will help to break the stigma and barriers to care.
If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please reach out to the National Suicide Professional Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
