Mean Girls opens this Friday with the FHS Players performing the well known piece written originally as a movie, by Tina Fey, turned into a staged musical. Mean Girls tells the journey of Cady, a transfer student from Africa who gets swept up into the ploy of becoming part of the "Plastics" as she tries to navigate her way in a new school and find her way as a teenager. Full of mistakes and mishaps, trying to fit in and trying to figure out who she is, Cady follows the advice of others rather than her own heart and mind, and ultimately shares the struggles that many teens face with social media and other hurdles they must face.
Tickets are available online through the Opera House website at www.franklinoperahouse.org or at the door and shows are this Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4 at 7:30 pm and two matinee performances on May 4 and 5 at 2 pm. All performances are at the Franklin Middle School cafeteria stage.
Mean Girls is rated PG-13 due to the content and some language and we advise people to be familiar with the film. The show runs about 2 1/2 hours with a matinee. Mean Girls is produced through Music Theater International.
